Lesson 24 – The Wise and Foolish Builders

Matthew 7:24-26

“Therefore everyone who hears these words of mine and puts them into practice is like a wise man who built his house on the rock. The rain came down, the streams rose, and the winds blew and beat against the house; yet it did not fall, because it had its foundation on the rock.

But everyone who hears these words of mine and does not put them into practice is like a foolish man who built his house on sand. The rain came down, the streams rose, and the winds blew and beat against that house, and it fell with a great crash.”

 In this passage from Matthew 7:24-26, Jesus presents a parable about two (2) builders. One builder is described as wise, and the other is described as foolish. The wise builder is the one who hears Jesus' words and puts them into practice, while the foolish builder does not.

The analogy used in the parable is that of building a house. The house built by the wise builder is constructed on a solid foundation, which is likened to a rock.
